I first discovered Julia Fordham when I saw the movie, “The Butcher’s Wife” back in the early 90s. Perhaps it was the hopeless romantic in me that was so drawn to this song. I waited through the credits to see who was singing this beautiful song. I then immediately went searching for it at the local music stores. Since then, I have purchased every one of her cds. She has a beautiful voice and her songs run the emotional gamut. There’s heartbreak, regret, joy, love, saddness, hope. I had originally planned to write about one of my musical guilty pleasures today, but for whatever reason, I was drawn to this song.
Lord knows my own personal life has taken mysterious paths that even I didn’t see until I was stumbling along them. I’ve had the luck and good fortune to love several people in my life. It didn’t always work out, but that didn’t change the fact that I loved them. We all had different paths to follow, but at those times, we were exactly where we were supposed to be. Some of us are still on that journey; others have found their home. We are richer for our experiences and for our love. Love is indeed mysterious but I think that’s what makes it so wonderful.
